Need to talk...?
No matter what your personal struggle is, Counselling and Psychotherapy can help you to a greater mastery of yourself and relief from your symptoms. With fresh insight, we gain power over the feelings that once held us hostage.
The Therapy I offer:
For the best chance of insight and permanent change, psychodynamic therapy is my preferred choice. It works to achieve maximum change in the individual. Unlike CBT, the therapy I offer uproots difficulties at a deep level rather than "tidying you up" at the surface.
I have many years experience in a very broad range of difficulties and I am currently available to help new clients.
I will create a safe, open and non-judgemental space for you. Our sessions are held in comfortable and private rooms and are strictly confidential.
Once we have met and we feel we would like to work together, we commit to meet weekly for a duration of 50 minutes. The therapy is open-ended which means we work together for as long as you feel is right for you. Some people stay working with me for a few weeks, some stay for years. Everyone is different.
Many people find this deep level of therapy enlivening, enriching and profoundly life changing.
A Safe Space For You
Could a Counsellor or Psychotherapist help you?
It takes courage to look at ourselves.
Perhaps it would be easier to look away, to push painful things far from our minds. Can we escape ourselves? Can we hide from meaning?
When we do, we might find ourselves asking,
"What is this discomfort?"
"What is this unthinkable dread?"
"What does this haunting dream mean?"
We can lock pain away so tightly in our cells that we can make ourselves ill. Just as we have the power to make ourselves uniquely unwell, we have the power to heal ourselves.
My Counselling & Psychotherapy Services are currently taking on new clients in Central London, Oxford Circus W1 and Holborn WC1 and in Rye, East Sussex. I also have clients from Hastings and Ashford and the surrounding areas.
Challenge and Crisis
Life’s difficulties begin at the heart of the individual. This is where we may go to glimpse the meaning of pain and struggle in each of our unique lifetimes. An analysed self is one full of meaning, richness and power. When we surrender ourselves to thought, word and feeling we can begin to unravel the strands of ourselves, strands which at times can have us too tightly bound.
Know yourself... Strengthen Yourself
We like to keep things hidden from ourselves and for good reason. The world of ‘grownups’ has made many rules stating who we can and cannot be, how we should and should not feel. As we begin to piece together the many conflicting parts of ourselves we can begin to feel whole, to feel steady and to feel prepared for new challenges ahead. Just as the infant learns every day to adapt, so can the adult.
Contact - Your first step...
It's often hard to take the first step and contact a therapist. There are often so many mixed feelings. It is a leap of faith but one that many people say is the best thing they ever did for themselves.
Even if you feel unsure, please do telephone or email me and we can talk together through what you are feeling.
After a brief talk you might feel that you would like to meet. We can arrange an initial meeting of 50 minutes where I will invite you to talk and ask you some questions to understand what is troubling you.
I aim for this first consultation to take place within 2 weeks.
I have a new room at Staple Inn, High Holborn, in the memorable Tudor building right outside Chancery Lane tube. It's a very welcoming, calm place with a beautiful courtyard, which has just been refurbished to a very high standard. Click here for a map Staple Inn map
